TAustrian born Lukas Birk, a photographer, has published a book, “Burmese Photographers”, featuring the works of generations of Myanmar photographers. The books are available in the Myanmar language in bookshops and libraries across Myanmar.

YANGON — For the first time in decades, visitors to Yangon’s Secretariat building on Martyrs’ Day will get a glimpse as to how Gen Aung San’s office once looked just before the independence hero and his Cabinet were assassinated there 70 years ago.

Secretariat to give public greater access for 70th Martyrs’ Day

This year’s Martyrs’ Day on July 19 will mark the 70th anniversary of the assassination of Aung San and six of his cabinet ministers, including his older brother Ba Win, a cabinet secretary and a bodyguard.

72th Martyrs’ Day Secretariat building renovated for Martyrs’ Day three-day event

Myanmar's Secretariat building, which has been renovated with some of the original furnishings, will open to the public for three days starting Wednesday to mark the 70th anniversary of Martyrs’ Day, when General Aung San and eight others were assassinated, said Darren McLean, project manager.
